Dew heater installation instructions
The series of photos below show the process of installing our dew heater. The process is fairly straight forward.

You will need the following:
  • Phillips head screwdriver
  • Silicone adhesive (optional)
  • Q-tips (cut off the cotton tip)
  • Razor blade

1) Begin by clearing some space. Lay a clean towel on the table to protect the mirror and prevent screws from rolling away.

2) Remove the four tiny screws from the holder with a phillips (plus) head screwdriver.

3) Remove the holder base and set aside.

4) Remove the polyester batting and set aside.

5) Remove the adhesive bracket (if any) from the back of the mirror with a razor blade.

6) Apply small dabs of silicone adhesive on three or four of the square heat resistors.

7) Place heater on the glass and gently push down to engage the silicone. Let it set for 24 hours. Note: the silicone adhesive is optional and not necessary. You can skip the silicone completely as the polyester batting will keep the heater secure against the glass.

8) Install secondary mirror into holder sleeve. Insert the polyester batting into the holder against the heater. Insert holder base and four tiny screws. Be sure all the wires pass cleanly out through the small hole on the side of the base. Insert mirror assembly into spider hub and secure with wing nut on end of stem. Place a small piece of self adhesive velcro on a spider vane adjacent to the spider hub. Attach heater battery pack to the velco. Leave the LED indicator light and temperature sensor visible and behind the holder. Tuck them in between the collimation screws out of the light path.
